My whole working life I have been working with purification and characterization of different proteins (natural sources, recombinant tagged proteins and recombinant untagged proteins) either at the lab bench or as global product manger. I started my career at the University of Uppsala, then moved on to BioCell, Pharmacia Diagnostics, Biovitrum, Pharmacia Biotech that during the years changed into Amersham Pharmacia Biotech and later become GE Healthcare Life Sciences. Now I am at Bio-Works. The last over 15 years I have worked as a senior global product manager.
As global senior product manager I am involved in preparing market need definitions, write product definition requests to R&D to get development projects starting, take an active role as market & product responsible representative in these projects and working together with many different departments in the company, such as R&D, QC, QA, production, distribution, sourcing, etc. I handle the launch activities in combination with post-launch activities with the different regions around the world. My background at the lab bench is very useful in my current position to understand the customer’s way of working and needs. I actively write products instructions, application notes, guides and other information material. I am responsible for product quality from a customer point of view and global pricing. I have product responsibility for the company's products regarding quality, product life cycles, profit-per-product analysis and post-launch activities. This includes product care project. I try to travel around the world to give both internal and external trainings and presentations for customers. This is something I like a lot as it gives you feedback on your existing products as well as ideas for new ones. The contact with customers and sales representatives is something I see as crucial for doing a good job as a product manager.
